ChatMate ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
- Account data: When you sign up, we store your email address and authentication session via Supabase Auth.
- Conversation data: Messages you send and AI responses are stored to provide conversation history. They are associated with your account.
- Usage data: We track your message count to enforce free-tier limits and manage subscriptions.
- Payment data: Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID — we never see or store full card numbers.
- Device data: Standard web logs (IP address, browser type, referrer) may be collected automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel).
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the chat service.
- To enforce free-tier message limits and manage paid subscriptions.
- To send transactional emails (receipts, subscription updates) via Stripe.
- To respond to your support requests.
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
4. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database and authentication. Data is stored in their secure cloud infrastructure.
- Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Kimi / Moonshot AI — AI responses are generated by Moonshot AI's API. Message content is sent to their servers for processing per their terms.
- Vercel — hosting and CDN. Standard server logs apply.
5. Data Retention
Conversation history is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser cookies to maintain your login session (via Supabase Auth). We use localStorage to remember your app preferences (language, voice settings). No third-party tracking cookies are used.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at wenhuazang@gmail.com.
8. Children
ChatMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes via the app.
